Turnitin has entered into an agreement with Nordic private equity firm Procuritas to acquire Ouriginal, a company formed from the union of Urkund and PlagScan, established experts in plagiarism detection.
Ouriginal’s customer base located in the Nordic region and Germany complements Turnitin’s presence in other parts of Europe and around the world. This intended acquisition expands Turnitin and Ouriginal’s geographic reach, allowing more customers around the world to access products that help them ensure the integrity of education.
Ouriginal’s services combine text-matching with writing-style analysis to promote academic integrity and help prevent plagiarism. Its solutions can be used through learning management systems or as stand-alone products to foster fairness and spark creativity among students.
The transaction is subject to regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions.
